Welcome to YMCA Of Greater St Louis Staff & Volunteer Training!

Online Registration for Courses

All YMCA training opportunities are coordinated through the YMCA of Greater St Louis Larry V. Alvey Leadership Development Center (LDC).   Our purpose is to provide professional development and education programs for YMCA staff and volunteers.  We strive to recruit, develop, and retain a talented and diverse workforce that advances the mission of the YMCA.  Your participation in our programs at the LDC reflects your commitment to lifelong learning and development.


How to Set Up An Account

YMCA of Greater St. Louis employees:  You have a user account that was created for you upon hire. Your username is your first initial capitalized) and your last name beginning with a capital letter.  Your password is the last four digits of your social security number.  Please note:  You must have permission of your supervisor to register for courses on your own.


Other YMCA staff and volunteers:  You will set up your username and password from the login page to access the online registration system and to sign-up for classes.  Go to Course Catalog to find the course descriptions and schedules and to sign-up.  Please note:  You must have permission of the YMCA Executive Director to register for YMCA courses.


How to Register for Courses

Follow these steps:

1.    Click on Course Catalog; then View Catalog; then View Course Details.

2.    Scroll down to the bottom of the course description to see start date and time.

3.    Click on Details to view complete schedule (Courses may run multiples days.)

4.    Select the course by placing a dot in the column next to the desired course in the grey box. (Note:  You must select the course even if it is the only one offered.)

5.    Scroll back up to the top of the page and enter method of payment. We only accept credit card via Pay Pal (Journal entry numbers are for YSTL staff only.)

6.    Click “Enroll” on next page to accept the payment information and amount. 

7.    Click “Complete Enrollment” (located at the bottom of the page).

8.    Scan and e-mail proof of prerequisites to Elizabeth Heitmann at eheitmann@ymcastlouis.org or fax copies to 314-469-1347.  We must receive copies of all prerequisites to complete your registration.  Please Note:  You will be asked to leave the training if all prerequisites are not fulfilled. Be sure to bring copies of your prerequisites to the training for the trainer to verify as well.

9.        An e-mail confirmation will be sent to you upon completion of enrollment.  Print this page out for your records.  If you do not receive this e-mail confirmation, your registration is not complete.  Contact Elizabeth Heitmann at eheitmann@ymcastlouis.org for assistance.

10.     Print out the PDF file attached to the e-mail confirmation to view information about textbooks, prerequisites, and our cancellation/refund policies as well as directions to LDC and nearby lodging information.

11.  Repeat steps above to enroll for more courses.


Registration Policies and Course Information


Refunds will be issued for cancellations if:

·         The course is cancelled by training event leadership. Registrar will contact participant.

·         The participant’s Trainer Candidate Application is not approved. Participant must contact the registrar to request cancellation and refund.

·         Individuals that do not follow cancellation procedure or do not show up for a course will be charged $25 in addition to applicable course fee.

Cancellations for reasons other than those above can be made without penalty prior to the registration deadline.  Registration deadline for all course is two weeks prior to cours starting date unless otherwise noted in course description and course details. Refunds will not be issued for cancellations made less than two weeks prior to the start of the course date. 


Note:  Contact the Registrar, Elizabeth Heitmann, at 314-436-1177, ext. 302, to check on course cancellations before making non-refundable flight and/or lodging reservations.



Manuals are required for many of the certification courses.  Participants must purchase the required manual(s) and bring it with them to the training. To find out the manual(s) that is required, go to View Course Details in the Course Catalog.  If a participant does not bring appropriate manual(s) to the course, they may be asked to leave.


Manual orders are to be sent directly to the Program Store (or as otherwise designated) and should not be sent to the event registrar. Contact the Program Store at www.ymcaprogramstore.com or 1.800.747.0089 to place order. Place your order at least two (2) weeks before you are scheduled to leave for the training event to ensure timely delivery. There will not be extra books available for sale at the course site. 



All participants without prerequisites will not be permitted to stay and complete the certification course.


The prerequisites identify what requirements must be met before you are eligible to take the course.  Participants MUST submit proof of prerequisites (ie, YMCA training transcript, copy of CPR cards, etc.)  PRIOR to the start of the course.  Fax copies of prerequisites to the Registrar at 314-469-1347.  In addition, be sure to bring copies with you of all prerequisites as the trainer will ask for them at the start of the course. 


Where age requirements are indicated, the age must be attained prior to the starting date of the course.


Where CPR certification is required, training should be received from a nationally recognized organization (American & Safety Health Institute (ASHI), National Safety Council, American Heart Association (health care provider course for BLS only), or American Red Cross unless otherwise noted. Participants in the CPR program should receive certification based on a practical and written test of knowledge, and the course should include pediatric and adult basic life support (BLS) and obstructed airway.

Directions From I-70/I-270 Interchange:

Take Interstate I-270 south; (Coming from 40/61 take I-270 north).  From I-270 take Page East Exit.  Stay in the Right Hand Lane (Follow the signs saying “To Westport” Follow the road around the curve taking a RIGHT onto Lackland Road.  Go up the hill to Craig Road/Westport Plaza Dr. and take another right. You will go over Page on the overpass and will come to an intersection with a Car Wash on the right and McDonald’s on the left TAKE A RIGHT.  This is Westline Industrial Drive, go past the car wash, the first building on the right is the 12000 Building, pull into the parking lot.  You will want to park by the East Entrance.
